24 Hour Travel Guide To Atlanta
A few weeks ago I went to Atlanta for work. However, we had some free time to enjoy the city. We must admit that going to Atlanta is not the first choice when we think about a “cool vacation”, but everyone who travels to the United States have to stop in Atlanta eventually, at least the airport. So here are some tips in case you have some hours to spare.
WHERE TO STAY:
Mariela and I decided to try Airbnb for the first time and it was the best decision, we saved a lot of money and the facilities were excellent. My advice to use Airbnb is to read carefully all the specifications; what’s included, where is located and the house rules. However, do not be afraid to ask questions to the owner if you have any concerns. We stayed in a house with 5 rooms where all of them were rented, so we shared common area, living room and kitchen with other people… Sounds crazy, but it was a great experience! Also we got the chance to meet other people from around the world.
HOW TO GET AROUND:
The best way to get around Atlanta is using car apps like UBER or LIFT. Atlanta has a metro station and public buses but sometimes it takes forever to arrive. And if you are traveling in a group of 3 or more, rent a car! It will be cheaper and more conveniente because you’ll get the chance to get around the city and see more. Keep in mind to avoid rush hours, traffic in Atlanta is insane.
THE WORLD OF COCA COLA.
Mariela and I didn’t have much free time, so we had to decided which center of attraction to visit. The World of Coca Cola Museum won! This was one of the most fun experiences, truly one of the best museums I’ve visited; you’ll cry, you’ll laugh and will have such a great time. The tour takes about 2 hours but you can hardly feel it. Even if you’re not a big fan of Coca Cola, it’s worth knowing its history and everything that is behind the brand. I promise you will get super inspired.

WHERE TO EAT:
Fox Brothers BBQ: Known for their BBQ meats and beers. Do not forget to try the “Frito Pie ‘, it comes insides of a Fritos Lay chips bag.
Antico Pizza: It is located in the “Little Italy” of Atlanta. You can watch while the cooks make an authentic Italian pizza in a wooden oven.
JCT Kitchen: Southern-style cuisine. We went at night so I took the photos from their website. We ate the “Devil’s Eggs”, “Truffles Parmesans Fries,” “Chicken & Dumpling” & “Macaroni & Cheese” … (yeaahh.. we were hungry! Haha)
Jeni’s: it’s a ice cream shop someone recommended us and is just next to JCT Kitchen. We couldn’t try it out because we were so FULL with dinner, so remember to leave room for dessert. Besides the logo and the decor is super cool, so it’s worth stoping by and take some photos.
WHERE TO WALK:
Buckhead and Midtown are the hip neighbourhoods in Atlanta , you will find tons of shops, restaurants and bars. We went to Lenox Mall for a mini shopping; here you’ll find stores like Macy’s, Sephora, Apple Store, JCrew, among others. We also walked around Buckhead Ave. I needed a new pair of eyeglasses so I wanted to go to Warby Parker. I love this brand. Their glasses are very modern and cool, they’re pretty affordable and their customer service is amazing. Besides their branding is super cool too (you can see their instagram here). On this same street there are others high end stores that although you might not be able to buy, a quick window shopping never hurt anyone. 😉
Told you this was a quick trip, I hope to get the chance to get around the city one more time. If you’ve been to Atlanta, share your recommendation bellow.
