Traveling to Ojos Indígenas Punta Cana
If you follow me on instagram, I’m pretty sure you noticed that I went to Punta Cana for my cousin’s wedding a few weeks back. We had such a great times on this mini vacation with the whole Medina Family, we spent our days sharing new stories and old ones, hanging at the beach or pool, eating a lot, drinking and taking lots of pictures, we couldn’t ask for more. We stayed at the Punta Cana Resort & Club and we rented an apartment which is the best option if you are a group of people and plan to spend a few days there, you’ll have access to all the benefits of the resort and will pay a lot less than a hotel. For those who might be interested, here you’ll find all the info.
One of the activities we did was to go to the Ecological Reserve “Ojo Indígena Punta Cana”, it’s a private protected area within the same complex. They are 12 crystalline lagoons inside a forest reserve. The entrance costed US$10, you can swim in 3 lagoons and spend all the time you want. This tour is perfect to do it among friends, with a couple or the whole family.
Here I’ll share some things to keep in mind if you decide to go:
-
Wear sneakers.
The path from the entrance to the first lagoon is a 10-15 minutes walk, and it’s not “an easy road”, my friends, you will find branches, trees and stones along the way. Do not worry, when you get to the lagoon there is a dock where you can leave your bag and shoes before dipping into the water.
-
Do not forget the camera.
You’ll want to take pictures of EVERYTHING. You’ll be amazed on how crystalline the water is. If you have an underwater camera, even better.
-
You should know how to swim (or at least float).
The lagoons are very deep, so that means you can’t touch the surface. You must have the ability to swim or at least float in the water if you don’t want to end up drowning. If you can’t, don’t worry, you can stay on the shore near the pier ladder and still enjoy the surroundings.
As people say “a picture is worth a thousand words”, I’ll let you enjoy the photos from our fun adventure.
Happy Weekend!
