I don’t know what it is, but since the last couple of years I ‘ve noticed that when the summer is around the corner we become obsessed with pineapples, palm trees, flamingos, bananas, watermelons and other tropical fruits. I understand when other countries that have a change of weather celebrate this season with such enthusiasm (after 8 months of cold weather, thinking about piña coladas doen’t sound bad) However I was wondering why do we have this obsession? We live in the Caribbean and we are used to have coconuts, palms trees and sunny days almost every day of the year, so why do we get excited when we see a pineapple in July? I’ll believe that it is because of the huge saturation of trends on the social medias, they hypnotize us and we want to be part of the band too. Yet I don’t know exactly what it is, but one thing you have to admit is that the summer, with all its fruit and tropical elements, cheer us on… is that why we are a very “happy country” every day of the year? I’m sure it is!
