Blast From The Past: Fanny Packs
Oh yes, as you can see in the picture; the fanny packs are back! But before you start crying desperately, let’s be honest … Did you go to Disney, a concert or backpacking Europe in the 80’s-90’s with one of these ? Let’s see, raise your hand if you did…c’mon, do not be shy! (haha! ) I think we were all victims of this accessory once in our youth.
The fanny packs gained popularity in the ’80s, and were known as a symbol of the hip hop culture. Then in 90’s, this accessory was characterized as very practical product, perfect for travelers or people who needed to have their hands free. Over time it began to be unfashionable and part of the stereotype of a “tourist” or use by old people.
Today, 35 years later, we have new versiones of the fanny packs. This season, the designer Tory Burch showed us how to wear this sporty accessory into a more modern and sophisticated way. Also, this year we saw a lot of Cochella’s fans wearing them (hello, the Kardashians!), so let’s face it, they are not so outdated at all.
