Quick Travel Guide to Sava Salinas in Baní
“Once a year go someplace you’ve never been before” – Dalai Lama
If you follow me on social media (instagram/facebook)I’m pretty sure you saw my pictures from my trip to Baní a week ago. You must be wondering how I ended up in Sava Salinas? Let me tell you the story.
A few months ago I had the opportunity to meet the owners of Sava Salinas through the workshop “The Key To Social Photos”. Samuel, the owner, told me about the project and I was amazed. The south of the island is one of the least visited and known areas, but is forecast to become the “it place” of Dominican Republic in the next years.
After several conversations, I was given the opportunity to go visit Sava Salinas with my sisters (Lorena and Mariela) and live my own experience in Baní. If you are looking to get out of the routine, relax and see all the beauty that Dominican Republic has, definitely this is an adventure you cannot miss.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SAVA SALINAS:
It is a tourist complex of 3 private villas (boutique apartments) with the possibility of occupancy of 2-4 people, depending on the villa. Sava Salinas is located on the shore of the Caribbean Sea, surrounded by tall palms trees.
The price ranges from $ 130- $ 230 per night, depending on the villa. For more info and reservations you can see HERE.
Sava Salinas is super close and easy to reach, it’s an hour and 10 mins from the city of Santo Domingo towards Playa de Salinas.
EAT AND DRINK:
Breakfast is included with your reservation. The villas have kitchen in case you plan to cook something special, however Sava Salinas offers meal plans. If you are planning to go and relax, I recommend this last option, because the price is super affordable and the menu has a huge variety. If you want to drink something, you can bring your own bootle of wine and enjoy it at the sunset.
WHAT TO DO:
Sava Salinas will arrange a boat trip with Captain Ramon, who is super kind and friendly. You can go to The Corbanitos beach (I’ll make a post about that), visit the mangroves, bring a book and relax in front of the swimming pool or jacuzzi. If you have experience, you can go fishing. See the flamingos at sea. Visit the Salt Mine which is a few minutes from Sava Salinas or step in to the Dunes (which is just right across the street from Sava Salinas, literally!).
INTERESTING DETAILS:
- You can bring your own meat and organize a BBQ, or the Sava Salinas team can do it for you.
- One of the villas has a private hot tub overlooking the sea on the second floor, perfect for couples and newlyweds.
- The seashore is not suitable for taking a bath, however there are 3 beaches super close. The staff of Sava Salinas will be responsible to guide you.
- Pets are allowed.
- You can rent the entire complex for celebrations; like wedding or a bridal shower.
- Free Wi-FI !!!! (hahaha … instagram approved !)
- Perfect place to go as a couple, small family or close friends.
- At the entrance of Baní, stop by the bakery, Las Marías and buy some coconut sweets.
- ** Quick note for the NO Dominicans readers: Baní is known for its mangoes, you will find them everywhere. Eat as many as you can!
