Setting Goals & Actually Accomplish Them // New year, new goals, new resolutions. My 3 tips on setting goals and truly accomplish them throughout the year.

New year, new goals, new resolutions. I love the beginning of the year, it’s a new opportunity to get everything done. I’ve already told you I’m a fan of setting goals every year, I fully believe in them. At the end of the year, I love to reflect on what I’ve achieved.

Many people do not believe in New Year resolutions or get easily discourage halfway. That is why I am going to share 3 tips on setting goals and ACTUALLY carry them out.

1. DIVIDE YOUR GOALS AND SET PRIORITIES:

Some goals take longer than others. Write those one and divide them in “mini-goals” that you’ll have to achieve in a short term. For example; setting goals of losing weight is the most famous… but what you need to do to actually achieve this goal?

So make a list of all the little things you need to do and they will be your “mini-goals”; here are some ideas: drinking only on weekends for a month, run at least 3 times a week in January, however go to Yoga two times a week in February, and so on. Or you can opt for activities involving more people so you can feel more motivated, for example; playing with the kids in the park every Sunday for two months, running 5 KM with a friend every Sunday of the month for 3 months.

The point is that when you divide your goals and you get short-term deadlines, everything feels less tedious, besides this is going to create a habit. I actually like setting goals every month or every two months with a realistic deadline. So at the end of the year, you will see everything you’ve achieved step by step.

2. THINK ABOT GOALS THAT MAKE YOU:

Setting goals doesn’t have to be a punishment. We strive to make demands that sometimes makes us unhappy and uninspired.

Aim for positive goals, small things that make you happy. For example; I set a goal to hang out more with my friends, I work a lot so I’m always tired, which keeps me away from my friends very often (Thanks God, they know me and love me anyway, even if I disappear for three months .. hahaha : P)

Write a list of things that make you happy and truly fulfil you, then divide them throughout the year. Believe it or not, those little things make us feel more inspired.

3. FOCUS & STOP MAKING EXCUSES

I think this is the most important rule of all on setting goals. Too with all the excuses. Make an analysis of your goals every 3 -4 months, and evaluate how much you’ve progressed. If you can not fulfil your small goal, or you skipped a day, a week or even a month, don’t get discourage!

Also share your goals with someone; your partner, a friend, or your parents, so they know about them and help you out when is needed. But remember that only you have full control of your decisions. As people say; “Dreams are only dreams, if you don’t got after them”

I hope these tips will help you out on setting goals and truly achieve them. …

Which goals you make this year? What do you do to carry them out?
